How to Make Breakfast Monkey Bread

I love how wonderfully simple this recipe is. With nearly everything ready-made, you can just toss it all into a pan and let the oven handle the rest! Just follow my step-by-step instructions below for a breakfast that’s bound to become a favorite!

  1. Prep: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a large bundt pan with pan spray. Cut all the biscuits into quarters and set them aside in a large bowl.
  2. Whisk Eggs: Add the eggs to a small bowl and whisk with the cream and everything bagel seasoning.
  3. Cook Eggs: Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat until melted, and then scramble the egg mixture until slightly undercooked.
  4. Combine Ingredients: Remove the eggs from the heat and transfer them to the bowl with the biscuits. Add the scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and cheese.
  5. Stir Together: Toss everything together until evenly combined.
  6. Bake: Carefully fill the prepared bundt pan with the biscuit mixture until it’s full. Then, bake for 30-35 minutes, until golden brown. Once baked, allow the Monkey Bread to cool slightly before turning it out onto a serving plate. Finally, serve it warm and enjoy!

Breakfast Monkey Bread Tips and Variations

Here are some simple tips and ideas for making savory monkey bread! There are many ways to switch up the ingredients and make it your own. Have fun with it!

  • Seasoning Options: The Everything bagel seasoning can be substituted for other seasonings or just salt and pepper. Use 1/2 teaspoon salt and a pinch or two of black pepper.
  • Different Cooking Options: You can use a 6-cup bundt pan by cutting the recipe in half and baking it for 20-25 minutes. Alternatively, you can spray a muffin pan with non-stick spray, divide the mixture into 12 portions, and bake for 13-18 minutes to make mini Monkey Bread muffins.
  • Other Canned Biscuits: If you use regular-sized canned biscuits instead of the Grands, use the same number of cans, but cut the biscuits in half instead of in quarters.
  • Add Onion and Peppers: Sauté 1/2-1 cup of onions or peppers and stir them in with everything to add a little more variety of flavor.
  • Add Chives: Try adding 1-2 tablespoons of chopped chives with the eggs or stirring them into the biscuit mixture.

Texas Twinkies are a major upgrade to your classic jalapeño poppers! They’re jalapeños filled with cream cheese, brisket, and shredded cheese, then wrapped in bacon and cooked to perfection. These are the hit of any party!

A satisfying, mouthwatering appetizer is sure to get your party started off right! If you need some other ideas for your spread, try this awesome 7-layer dip, these crispy egg rolls, or these amazing stuffed pizza bites.

Overhead shot of Texas Twinkies lined up on a sheet pan.

Reasons You’ll Love Texas Twinkies

  • Loaded with flavor: These Texas Twinkies will be a true delight to your taste buds. I love the way the creamy cheese complements the smoky, savory brisket and bacon. It’s the BEST flavor combination!!
  • Easy to Make: This recipe is not complicated! I’ll walk you through step-by-step instructions for slicing, stuffing, and cooking these bad boys!
  • Perfect for a party or game day: Serve these with a few dips and other handheld bites or make them into more of a meal and pair them with a fresh salad, or some veggies and some fruit.

What are Texas Twinkies?

Texas Twinkies are bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers stuffed with cream cheese, smoked brisket, shredded cheese, and seasonings and finished with BBQ sauce. They are unbelievably delicious and a major crowd-pleaser!

While I’ve been stuffing peppers and wrapping them in bacon for years, this version made famous by Hutchins BBQ in McKinney, Texas, takes your classic poppers to the next level! They use extra large jalapeños and fill them with smoked brisket and cream cheese, then wrap them in a thick slice of bacon and smoke them until the bacon is crispy and the pepper is tender. So good, you won’t be able to stop with just one!

Ingredients You’ll Need

This Texas Twinkies recipe is made with easy-to-find ingredients. However, it does require pre-cooked brisket. You can buy smoked brisket from your favorite barbecue joint or make my tried and true slow cooker beef brisket.

  • Jalapeño peppers: Choose fresh, bright green jalapeños that are big enough to hold all of the stuffing.
  • Cream Cheese: Adds creaminess and balances the heat from the peppers. Be sure to soften your cream cheese so it’s easy to mix with the other filling ingredients.
  • Smoked Brisket: Gives the best savory, smoky, and meaty flavor.
  • Cheese: For extra cheesiness! We really like shredded pepper jack cheese, but other cheeses will work.
  • Seasonings: Mix in garlic powder and onion powder to bring just a hint of garlic and onion flavor.
  • Bacon: Bacon makes everything better! Regular bacon will crisp up best.
  • BBQ Sauce: Use my homemade BBQ sauce recipe or your favorite store-bought variety.
Overhead shot of labeled ingredients.

How to Make Texas Twinkies

Follow these few simple steps, then you’ll have a tasty appetizer your family and friends will love!

  1. Prep: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Slice the Jalapeños: Prepare the jalapeños by cutting a slit down the length of one side and then another cut across the top, stopping before cutting all the way through. The two cuts should form a T on the jalapeño. Keep the stem, but remove the seeds and veins. Repeat with the remaining jalapenos.
  3. Make the Filling: Combine the cream cheese, brisket, pepper jack, and seasonings in a large bowl. Spoon the brisket mixture into the jalapeños until they are filled but are still able to close all the way.
  4. Wrap With Bacon: Wrap each jalapeño tightly with a slice of bacon. You can use toothpicks to hold the bacon on the peppers, but they are not necessary.
  5. Bake: Line the jalapeños up on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the bacon is getting crispy and the jalapeños are tender. Brush each one generously with BBQ sauce and bake for an additional 5 minutes,
  6. Cool and enjoy: Let them cool slightly before serving.

Hot Tip: Wear Gloves!

***I recommend using disposable gloves when cutting and deseeding jalapenos so you don’t get the spicy oils from jalapeños on your skin, eyes, or face. These oils can linger on your hands even after washing, so gloves will help prevent that.

Texas Twinkie Tips and Variations

Texas Twinkies are easy to make and customizable! Below are a few tips and simple variation ideas to spice things up.

  • Use Different Cheese: I used pepper jack cheese in my Texas Twinkies, but other delicious choices would be sharp cheddar cheese, smoked gouda, or Monterey jack. You can do a combination of any hard cheese that you love.
  • Using Thick-Cut Bacon: It may take a little bit longer to render the fat as much as you prefer, so add a few minutes at a time to the baking time and keep an eye on the doneness.
  • Don’t Overstuff With Filling: Be careful not to overstuff these bad boys! If you add too much filling, it can leak out onto the baking sheet. Fill them just enough that the cavity inside the jalapeno is full, and the sides can touch when you close them. But fear not—even if they leak, they are still delicious!
  • Using a Toothpick: You can use a toothpick at the top and bottom of each jalapeño to anchor the bacon to it. You don’t have to do this, but the bacon will sometimes curl and unwrap itself from the ends as it bakes.
  • Size of Jalapeños: Jalapeños vary in size, and larger ones may need 1 ½ to 2 slices of bacon to be fully wrapped. If you need to use more than one slice, secure the bacon with a wooden toothpick. The bacon will fuse as it bakes, allowing you to remove the toothpick before serving.
  • Smoking: Can you smoke Texas Twinkies? Yes!! Smoke these in your smoker at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for about 40-45 minutes.
Close up shot of cooked Texas Twinkies.

Storing Leftovers Jalapeño Poppers

While bacon-wrapped jalapeños are best enjoyed straight out of the oven, here’s how to store any leftovers you might have:

  • In the Refrigerator: Place any leftover peppers in an airtight container and refrigerate them for up to 2 days. The bacon may lose some of its crispiness, but the overall flavor will still be enjoyable.
  • To Reheat: To reheat, place on a baking sheet and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes or until the bacon is nice and crispy again. You can also reheat these in an air fryer.

Ingredients Needed

This easy quiche recipe is made with simple ingredients that come together for major deliciousness! Plus, it’s effortless to prep. Once you cook the bacon and stir all of the ingredients together, the oven does the rest of the work! You can find the measurements below in the recipe card.

  • Eggs: You’ll need 6 large eggs for the base of the filling.
  • Custard: A combinations of heavy whipping cream and whole milk come together with the eggs to create a rich, tasty egg custard.
  • Cooked Bacon: Fried up nice and crispy, bacon is always a favorite in quiche!
  • Green Onions: For a mild onion taste and a pop of color.
  • Cheese: We love shredded sharp cheddar cheese in this recipe, but you can really use any cheese you prefer. Shred your own from a block for the best flavor!
  • Seasonings: A simple mix of salt, pepper and paprika enhances and brings out all of the wonderful flavors.
All of the ingredients laid out for crustless quiche. Listed are: cheddar cheese, heavy cream, green onion, bacon, paprika, pepper, salt, eggs, and whole milk.

How to Make a Crustless Quiche

This crustless quiche recipe is super simple to make, and it’s perfect for family breakfast or hosting your friends for a special brunch. You just mix your ingredients together in a large bowl, pour the egg mixture into the pie pan, and bake. It’s that easy!

  1. Prep: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 12-inch pie pan with butter.
  2. Mix Liquid Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy whipping cream, and milk until it is smooth and creamy.
  3. Stir in Add-ins: Add in the chopped bacon, green onions, cheese, salt, pepper, and paprika. Whisk everything together and pour it into the prepared pie pan.
  4. Water Bath: Create a water bath by placing a rimmed baking sheet in the oven on the center rack, carefully place the filled pie pan in the center of the baking sheet. Pour water into the baking sheet until it fills the pan and surrounds the pie pan.
  5. Bake: Place in the oven and bake the quiche until the center is set and no longer jiggles when it moves, about 40-50 minutes.
  6. Cool and Serve: Carefully remove the quiche from the oven then the water bath. Allow the quiche to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips for Making Quiche

Here are a few tips that I’ve learned over the years when making quiche. Read through, so your quiche is perfect every time you make it!

  • Variations: You can customize the add-ins however you’d like. Other additions to consider are sauteed broccoli, bell peppers, sautéed onion or shallots, chopped ham, and different kinds of cheeses.
  • Grease the Pan Well: Since this quiche bakes without a crust, you’ll want to grease your baking dish generously. Butter will work the best to keep your crustless quiche from sticking.
  • Use Half and Half: If you’d like to lighten this recipe up a bit, you can substitute the heavy cream for half and half. It won’t be quite as rich but it will still be delicious.
  • Cover with Foil: While baking, you may need to loosely cover the quiche in aluminum foil if it begins to brown before the eggs are fully cooked.
  • Dietary Needs: This recipe is already gluten free, since it doesn’t use a crust. You can also easily make it vegetarian by omitting the bacon and adding some vegetables.
  • Garnish: For a pretty presentation, add a sprinkle of sliced green onion or freshly chopped herbs like thyme or parsley.

How to Store Leftovers

Crustless quiche, like most quiche recipes, tastes wonderful reheated the next day! You can even make it ahead of time and freeze it for later!

  • In the Refrigerator: Once the quiche has cooled, transfer to an airtight container and store in your fridge. It will keep fresh for up to 4 days.
  • In the Freezer: Wrap the cooled quiche in plastic wrap and then in foil. Label it with the date and it will stay good in your freezer for up to 3-4 months.
  • To Reheat: Let the frozen quiche thaw in the fridge overnight. Then, when you are ready to eat it, cook it at 350 degrees F for 15-20 minutes.

Introducing the easiest and tastiest appetizer that every party needs! Bacon crackers start with a buttery cracker layered with salty bacon and sprinkled with brown sugar and black pepper. It only takes 4 ingredients to make this sweet and salty snack.

Any appetizer that has bacon is a winner in my book! I have a few favorite appetizers to serve at your next party. Try this cheeseball, these bacon-wrapped chestnuts, and my personal favorite, jalapeno poppers with bacon!

Close view of a hand holding up a bacon cracker from a plate of stacked crackers.

Candied Bacon Crackers

I can’t even describe the magic that happens when these candied bacon crackers bake! The buttery crackers absorb the bacon drippings, and the sugar melts and caramelizes the cracker into an addicting snack. The salty crisp bacon paired with the sweet sugar are PERFECTION! It’s the BEST flavor combination! Everyone goes wild over these appetizers and the best part is how easy they are to make.

I love an easy appetizer that I can whip up last minute. You never know when you’ll have guests last minute and this is the appetizer to make when that happens. Here are some more easy appetizer recipes that don’t require a lot of ingredients. Make these little smokies, this shrimp, or our all-time favorite 5-minute dip!

Ingredients to Make Bacon Crackers

All it takes is 4 ingredients to make these sweet and savory bacon crackers! It’s such a simple appetizer and takes no time at all. Find the exact measurements in the recipe card at the end of the post.

  • Club Crackers: The perfect-sized cracker to fit the bacon slices.
  • Bacon: Choose your favorite! Use thick-cut, thin-cut, or peppered bacon. There’s no need to sprinkle with pepper if it’s already on the bacon.
  • Brown Sugar: Caramelizes and candies the bacon for a sweet and salty combination.
  • Cracked Black Pepper: A little heat and texture, I love the added pepper!

Let’s Make Bacon Crackers

This bacon crackers recipe is the easiest appetizer to whip up! In no time at all you will have a flavor-packed appetizer that will be everyone’s favorite! Bring these to your next party or game day.

  1. Preheat Oven, Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit then place a wire rack on a baking sheet.
  2. Arrange Crackers on Prepared Pan: Line the crackers in a single layer on top of the wire rack.
  3. Cut and Place Bacon Pieces on Crackers: Cut the bacon into fourths then place 1 piece on top of each cracker. Save the remaining bacon for another recipe!
  4. Sprinkle with Sugar and Pepper: Sprinkle the brown sugar over the top of the bacon. Lastly, sprinkle cracked black pepper on top of the brown sugar.
  5. Bake: Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the bacon is crisp to your liking. Enjoy!

Tips and Variations

Here are my tips and variations below for making these bacon crackers. I also have a few ideas on how to make them spicy if you like added heat. You’re going to love how quick and easy they are!

  • Crackers: Any buttery cracker will work for this appetizer. I prefer using Club crackers because they are sturdy enough to withhold the bacon and sugar as they melt and seep into the cracker. I also love the perfect size that it is for the bacon!
  • Make it Spicy: Add sliced jalapenos, red pepper flakes, or a sprinkle of cayenne pepper if you want more heat. Also, the added spice levels up all the flavors. It’s DELICIOUS!
  • Freeze Bacon: Here’s a little tip for cutting the bacon. Pop it in the freezer for about 20 minutes before cutting it. It chills and hardens slightly to make the cutting easier. Save any leftover bacon for another recipe or double this recipe. The more bacon crackers the better!
  • Wrap the Crackers: Instead of placing the bacon on top, simply wrap a longer piece around the whole cracker. You may need to adjust the baking time but more bacon? Yes please!
Close view of baked bacon crackers on a baking sheet pan lined with a wire rack.

How to Store Bacon Crackers

These bacon crackers will disappear before you know it! They are so addicting and your guests will devour them. However, here’s how to store any leftovers you might have.

  • On the Counter: Place any leftover bacon crackers in an airtight container. Allow them to cool before storing them. They will keep on the counter for up to 2 days. The crackers and bacon may lose some of their crispiness, but the overall flavor will still be enjoyable. These crackers are best served at room temperature and I don’t recommend storing them in the fridge.

Upgrade the flavors of a classic appetizer with these jalapeño popper pigs in a blanket. Smokey cocktail sausages and jalapeño cream cheese wrapped in a blanket of buttery crescent dough. The jalapeño popper flavors add a creamy and spicy layer that tastes like it was meant to be there all along!

I love bringing delicious appetizers to game days or parties that I know everyone will go crazy over. Similar to this homemade cheese dip, my popular little smokies, or these crispy egg rolls.

Close view of jalapeno popper pigs in a blanket stacked on a black plate with a bite out of one.

Pigs in a Blanket

Jalapeño pigs in a blanket is the best of both worlds. Smokey sausage and creamy jalapeño bacon flavors are all bundled up inside a buttery crescent roll. The creamy cheese melts and every bite is incredible! Everyone loves to snack on pigs in a blanket at a party game day! It’s just one of those appetizers that kids AND adults can’t get enough of.

Jalapeño popper anything is always a hit! Starting with classic jalapeno poppers, you can never go wrong serving these as an appetizer. And if you want more jalapeño popper-inspired recipes, try this soup or this dip!

Jalapeño Popper Pigs in a Blanket Ingredients

Pigs in a blanket with a jalapeño popper spin? Yes, please! This classic appetizer is now even better, and your guests will devour them! Plus, you’ll love the added cream cheese layer loaded with jalapeños and bacon!

  • Cream Cheese: Use room temperature cream cheese.
  • Fresh JalapeñosDeseeded and minced for the perfect amount of heat. Add the seeds if you like it spicy!
  • Bacon: Crispy chopped bacon is extra yummy in this appetizer.
  • Salt and Black Pepper: To taste!
  • Garlic Powder: Adds garlic flavor and is SO delicious!
  • Cocktail Sausages: Use cocktail sausages or 8 hot dogs cut into 3rds.
  • Crescent Rolls: Canned crescent roll sheets are so convenient but canned crescent rolls if you can’t find the rolls.
  • Egg: The egg wash gives them a pretty sheen, but you can use melted butter if you prefer.

Jalapeño Popper Pigs in a Blanket Recipe

These jalapeño popper pigs in a blanket are just as easy to make as my original pigs in a blanket recipe. Only a few simple steps and then you’ll have a tasty appetizer your family and friends will love!

  1. Preheat Oven, Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Mix Cream Cheese Filling: Add the cream cheese, minced jalapeño, bacon, salt, pepper, and garlic powder to a large bowl. Beat together using an electric hand mixer.
  3. Cut Crescent Dough: Open the tube of crescent roll dough and spread it out flat on a clean surface. If using crescent rolls instead of crescent sheets, pinch the diagonal seams together. Cut the dough into 12 even strips, and then again in half so you have 24 strips total.
  4. Spread on Cream Cheese Mixture: Spread the cream cheese mixture over each strip with a knife or a small spatula. I eyeballed this, but it was about a teaspoon on each strip. If you have extra spread, feel free to add more or save any leftovers to use elsewhere–It’s delicious on a toasted bagel!
  5. Add Sausage and Roll Up: Roll each strip of dough around one cocktail sausage. I had enough dough to wrap fully around them twice, but it will depend on the size of the hot dogs you have. Don’t worry if it’s not all the way around twice. Place them with the open seam down on the prepared baking tray.
  6. Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water then brush on the dough with a pastry brush.
  7. Bake: Bake for 15-17 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Let them cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.
First photo of the cream cheese, bacon, jalapenos, and seasoings in a bowl. Second photo of the crescent dough cut. Third photo of the dough wrapping round the smokies. Fourth photo of the pigs in a blanket lined on a sheet pan before baking.

Variations

Jalapeño popper pigs in a blanket are easy to make, and also customizable! I have a few simple variations below to switch things up.

  • Dough: If you like more dough around your cocktail sausages, skip the step where you cut the strips of dough in half and make 12 pigs in a blanket. You can also use puff pastry instead of crescent dough!
  • Butter Glaze: Instead of egg wash, you can brush your pigs right out of the oven with some melted butter mixed with garlic powder and salt for a garlic butter finish!
  • Spice it Up: I chose to deseed my jalapeño before mincing it, but you may keep the seeds for a spicier filling! You may also substitute drained diced green chilis or canned or pickled jalapeños to change things up.
Top view of jalapeno popper pigs in a blanket on a wood board lined with a cooling rack.

Storing Leftovers

I highly doubt you will have leftovers of these jalapeño popper pigs in a blanket because they are always such a hit! But if you do, here are my tips for storing and reheating any leftovers!

  • In the Refrigerator: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To Reheat: Reheat in the microwave for 25-30 seconds or bake in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes, until heated through. Alternatively, you may heat them in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Make in Advance: Prepare your pigs in advance! Once wrapped in the dough, you can cover them tightly with plastic wrap and store them in the fridge for up to 2 days before baking them.

This creamy, tangy blue cheese dip is packed with crave-worthy goodness, with smoky bacon, melty cheeses, and a hint of garlic. Get ready to dunk, smear, and devour it all! The perfect appetizer for any occasion.

Hot, cheesy dips are my weakness. This blue cheese dip is one of my new favorites, and if you’re looking for some other recipes that are just as delicious, try hot crab dip, corn dip, or asiago dip!

Hot Blue Cheese Dip Recipe

Tangy, cheesy, creamy, this blue cheese dip has it all. It’s filled with a mixture of fontina, blue cheese, cream cheese, and bacon, all baked to warm, bubbly perfection. Grab your favorite chips, crostini, crackers, you name it, and get snacking!

This baked blue cheese dip is so delicious, everyone will love it. The blue cheese flavor is balanced perfectly with the fontina, cream cheese, garlic, sour cream, and bacon. It’s savory, creamy, and tangy all at once. Make it for your next game day, party, potluck, you name it, and watch it fly off the table.

Ingredient List

Each ingredient here creates the absolute best flavor and texture. It’s perfectly balanced, and will have you reaching for another chip. If you’re looking for measurements, they can all be found at the end of the post.

  • Cream Cheese: Make sure it’s softened so you don’t have lumpy dip.
  • Sour Cream: Full-fat sour cream adds a touch of tang to balance out the richness. You can also use Greek yogurt as a substitute.
  • Mayonnaise: Mayo binds everything together, creating that perfectly smooth and dippable texture in your blue cheese dip.
  • Black Pepper: Adds some warm spice. You can also use paprika or even a little bit of cayenne for more heat.
  • Garlic: Because you can never go wrong with garlic. I used garlic powder, but you can also swap in some chopped fresh garlic for a bolder bite.
  • Bacon: Six slices of cooked and crumbled bacon for meaty, salty goodness. I like to use precooked bacon for easy prep.
  • Blue Cheese: The star of the show! Blue cheese adds that distinct tangy flavor that is so delicious.
  • Fontina or Cheddar: A cup of shredded fontina or white cheddar cheese makes the blue cheese dip ooey-gooey and adds a beautiful golden brown coating when broiled.
  • Green Onions: Chopped green onions add a pop of color and a subtle onion flavor to every bite of this blue cheese dip.

Let’s Make Blue Cheese Dip!

Grab that baking dish and get ready to make the perfect party appetizer! It only takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. The perfect yummy dish to make last minute! All you need are your favorite dippables, whether they’re fresh veggies, crackers, chips, or flatbread.

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Dip Mixture: Add the cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, black pepper, garlic powder, crumbled bacon, blue cheese, and ½ cup of shredded fontina cheese to a large bowl.
  3. Add to Baking Dish: Mix until well combined and transfer into a small baking dish.
  4. Layer Shredded Cheese: Top with the remaining ½ cup of shredded fontina cheese and bake for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.
  5. Broil: Broil for 2 minutes to brown the cheese on top. Watch it closely so it doesn’t burn!
  6. Add Garnish: Remove from oven and garnish with blue cheese crumbles and chopped green onion.
  7. Enjoy: Serve hot with crostini, chips, and veggies.

Variations To Try

Dips are a favorite of mine because I can make them exactly how I want them! Depending on what you serve them with, it can be different every time! Here are a few ideas to switch up this blue cheese dip.

  • Add Chicken: Add cooked shredded chicken to this dip to make it more filling. Shredded rotisserie chicken is another great option. I love adding protein to dips because it makes them heartier.
  • Switch up the Cheese: Blue cheese is the star of the show in this recipe, but switch the fontina or white cheddar with any white cheese. Mozzarella would be a great alternative. Parmesan and Gruyere cheese would also be delicious in this dip.
  • Drizzle with Buffalo Sauce: We all know blue cheese is made for buffalo flavors. Drizzle the top of this dip with buffalo sauce before serving.
  • Dipping Ideas: The recipe suggests serving this dip with crostini, chips, or veggies, but let me be more specific! Serve with ANY vegetables, you really can’t go wrong. This dip is also delicious with cubed bread, any kind of crackers, or pita chips.

Storing and Reheating Leftovers

Blue cheese dip makes great leftovers! Save it for a snack throughout the week. It’s delicious reheated and enjoyed with fresh veggies. It’s too good of a dip not to save leftovers! Follow my tips below for storing and reheating this blue cheese dip.

  • In the Refrigerator: Once the dip has cooled, store it in an airtight container in your refrigerator. It can last up to 3-4 days.
  • To Reheat: Reheat this dip in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes or until warmed through. Or microwave it on high for 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds.

Tips and Variations

Bacon wrapped smokies are simple but are bursting with so much flavor! I’ve added some tips below to make this appetizer a success. Everyone will love these no matter how you make them because they’re just SO good!

  • Toothpicks: Although it isn’t necessary, you can secure the bacon with toothpicks if you prefer.
  • BBQ Sauce: Serve BBQ sauce on the side to dip these yummy little appetizers in. Kids love this!
  • Bacon Tip: Place the bacon in the freezer for about 10 minutes before slicing. This chills the bacon just enough to make the cutting easier. Room-temperature bacon can be difficult to slice. Remember this tip any time you need to slice bacon!
  • Spices: Switch up the spices if you’d like! You can even add cayenne pepper to make it spicy!
  • Wire Rack: Line your baking dish or sheet pan with a wire wrack because it helps drain the grease as they bake.
  • Aluminum Foil: Line the bottom of your baking sheet or dish with foil for easy clean-up.

Storing Leftovers

While bacon wrapped smokies are best enjoyed right away, here’s how to store any leftovers you might have. No need to worry, because reheating them brings the goodness right back to life!

  • In the Refrigerator: Store leftover bacon wrapped smokies in the refrigerator and reheat in the microwave to enjoy later. Store in an airtight container.
  • To Reheat: Place the bacon wrapped smokies on a sheet pan, then bake at 350° Fahrenheit for 6-8 minutes. Bake until warmed through and the bacon is crisp on the outside. These also reheat great in the microwave or air fryer at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-5 minutes.

Bacon-Filled Pancakes

Soft, pillowy pancakes with crispy bacon in each bite. But the best part? These bacon pancakes are super simple to whip up. And, if your kids are anything like mine, they’ll be excited that they’re making the ‘bacon pancakes from Adventure Time,’ and won’t be able to stop singing the song.

Just mix up a basic pancake batter, throw in some crumbled bacon (because who can resist?), and cook them up with a full slice of bacon inside for more meaty goodness. The salty bacon flavor shines through every bite and balances the sweetness perfectly! Drizzle with maple syrup, and boom, you’ve got a breakfast (or brunch, or even dinner) that’s both familiar and new. So ditch the indecision and make these all-in-one bacon pancakes. A breakfast game-changer! And if you’re looking for more delicious ways to start your day, check out my full list of breakfast recipes.

Ingredient List

Simple ingredients, epic breakfast flavor. You’re going to want these mouthwatering bacon pancakes all the time.

  • Bacon: Crumble some into the batter for salty pieces in every bite, and reserve a few whole pieces to add inside each pancake. The more bacon the better, right? Also, reserve some of the bacon grease to cook the pancakes in. It adds so much flavor!
  • Egg: Binds everything together and keeps these pancakes light and airy.
  • Canola Oil: Makes the pancakes tender.
  • Milk: Any kind you like! I used whole milk to make my pancakes extra rich.
  • Flour: Give the pancakes their structure. All-purpose works just fine. Don’t overmix! A few lumps are okay.
  • Salt: Just a pinch to enhance flavors.
  • Sugar: A touch of sweetness to complement the salty bacon. Go easy, the maple syrup will add plenty more sweetness soon enough.
  • Baking Powder: Our magical leavening agent. No sad, flat pancakes here!

How to Make Bacon Pancakes

Bacon pancakes are surprisingly simple to make and the whole family loves them. A win-win! Grab your favorite breakfast toppings and then get ready to feast.

  1. Cook Bacon: Cook the bacon according to package instructions, for this recipe I cook it slightly crispier. Then set the cooked bacon on paper towels to drain and reserve a little of the bacon grease to cook the pancakes in.
  2. Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients Separately: In a medium bowl whisk together the egg, oil, and milk. In a separate bowl whisk together the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and then mix well.
  3. Add Bacon Pieces: Finely chop 4 of the cooked strips of bacon and then mix the chopped bacon into the pancake mix.
  4. Add Bacon Strips to Pan, Cover With Pancake Mix: Heat the skillet or griddle used for the bacon to medium heat. Place a couple strips of bacon on the skillet, then pour some of the pancake batter over each strip of bacon, just enough to cover each one individually.
  5. Cook and Flip: Cook the pancakes until bubbles begin to form on the top and flip each pancake. Continue to cook until the pancakes are golden on each side. Repeat with the remaining stirps of bacon and pancake batter.
  6. Enjoy: Serve fresh with butter and maple syrup!

What Pancake Batter to Use

For this recipe I used homemade batter, but you can use Bisquick or any pre-made pancake mix. Mix the batter according to the package instructions and add the chopped bacon to it.

Topping Ideas

Feel free to play around with flavor combinations! Think maple bacon donut. These sweet syrups will complement the savory flavor of the pancakes so well.

Storing Leftover Bacon Pancakes

Although these pancakes are best enjoyed fresh, you can also store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

I recommend reheating your pancakes in either the oven or on the stovetop to keep the texture from turning out rubbery. Over medium heat for 2 minutes per side or 10 minutes in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit will do the trick!
