A great salmon marinade makes your fish flavorful, tender, and juicy! This recipe gives each filet the perfect balance of savory, sweet, and tangy flavors.

Most of my favorite meat recipes start with a good marinade. And I love experimenting with different ingredients to create new flavors, especially during grilling season! Here are some of our go-to marinades that you’ll definitely want to try: pork chop marinadeshrimp marinade, and chicken marinade!

Reasons You’ll Love This Marinade Recipe

  • Easy to Prepare: Requires just a few simple ingredients.
  • Delicious: Delivers big flavor with minimal effort. Enjoy tender, juicy salmon that’s perfect every time.
  • Versatile: Ideal for salmon, chicken, or steak. While store-bought marinades are convenient, homemade always tastes better!

What Ingredients are in Salmon Marinade?

You’re going to love how easy this salmon marinade recipe is! It’s made with simple ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen. Just check the recipe card below for all the exact measurements.

  • Soy Sauce: Adds a savory and umami flavor to the marinade that enhances the taste of the salmon.
  • Lemon Juice: A little acidity is a must in marinades. It provides fresh flavor and also helps to tenderize the salmon.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Ensures the marinade coats the salmon completely while adding plenty of moisture.
  • Honey: The sweetness from the honey balances the savory flavor from the soy sauce.
  • Garlic: Fresh garlic infuses the salmon with an incredible savory taste!
  • Fresh Parsley: Love adding fresh herbs for depth of flavor.
  • Salmon: This marinade makes enough to fully coat 2-3 pounds of fresh salmon.

How to Make Salmon Marinade and Cook Salmon

Homemade marinade is super simple to make! All you have to do is mix all of the ingredients, and then add everything to a large ziplock bag! Below, you’ll find instructions for making the marinade and also 4 different ways to cook your salmon:

  1. Make the Marinade: Combine all the ingredients in a large ziplock bag or a large bowl.
  2. Marinate the Fish: Add the salmon, ensuring the fish is completely covered with the marinade. Let it marinate for 30-60 minutes. Avoid letting it marinate for longer than an hour, as fish can start to break down and become mushy after too long.

Choose Your Cooking Method

  1. Air Fryer: Spray the basket of the air fryer with pan spray and place the salmon skin side down. Cook at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 8-10 minutes, or until the fish reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Oven: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or non-stick foil. Place the salmon skin side down on the baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the fish reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Skillet: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat before adding the salmon skin-side up. Let the salmon sear for 4-5 minutes before flipping it skin side down. Cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  4. Grill: Preheat the grill to 500 degrees Fahrenheit and either brush or spray with oil. Place the salmon skin side down for 6-8 minutes. When it is ready to flip, it should easily release with a fish spatula. Flip the fish and cook over indirect heat for 2-4 minutes, until the fish reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

Variations and Substitutions

This sweet and savory salmon marinade is a game-changer, making your fish tender and juicy with incredible flavor. Here are some easy tweaks to tailor it to your taste:

  • Switch up the Citrus: For a fun twist, try swapping the lemon juice with lime or orange juice. Each one adds its own unique zing!
  • Change the Herbs: Feel free to mix in different herbs like rosemary, thyme, cilantro, or dill. Fresh herbs are great, but if you’re using dried, go with 1 teaspoon for every tablespoon of fresh.
  • Alternative for Soy Sauce: If you need to switch out the soy sauce, go for gluten-free or low-sodium soy sauce, or try liquid aminos for a similar taste.
  • Make it Spicy: Craving some heat? Add a pinch or two (or more, if you like it hot) of crushed red pepper to spice things up.
  • Sweetener: Honey does a great job balancing the saltiness of the soy sauce, but you can swap it with brown sugar or agave. If you need to skip the sweetener, that’s okay too—just know it adds a nice touch!

How to Store Salmon Marinade

You can get a head start by whipping up your marinade a day in advance. Just remember, don’t add the fish to it until about an hour before you plan to cook. If you let the fish soak for more than 60 minutes, the marinade will start to break down the fillet’s structure, leaving you with mushy fish.

  • In the Refrigerator: Your homemade marinade will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks if you keep it in an airtight container in the fridge. But be careful! Once the marinade has been in contact with raw meat or fish, you’ll need to toss it out to avoid any food safety issues.
  • In the Freezer: For longer storage, you can freeze your marinade. Just pour it into a freezer-safe ziplock bag, and it will keep for 3-6 months. When you’re ready to use it, let it thaw in the refrigerator or at room temperature.

  • Filled with Bright Flavors: Fresh lemon and garlic create the best flavors combined with the smokiness of grilling. You will love the taste and texture of this fish!

What You Need to Make Grilled Tilapia

You’ll only need a handful of simple ingredients to make this super tasty grilled tilapia! They come together for tender tilapia that will rival even the best seafood restaurant! The complete list of ingredients and measurements are listed in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Top view of all of the ingredients laid out individually and labeled.

How to Make Grilled Tilapia

Tilapia is one of the easiest proteins to grill! Marinate the fish for about 30 minutes, and then grill it for less than 12 minutes. You will want to make this recipe all season long!

  1. Make the Marinade: Whisk together the lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, black pepper, salt, and mustard powder to prepare the marinade.
  2. Marinate the Fish: Pour the marinade into a large sealable bag or container and place the tilapia filets into the container. Marinate the tilapia for 30 minutes to an hour. While the filets are marinating, preheat a grill to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Grill: Once the tilapia filets are ready, remove them from the marinade. Brush the grill with olive oil and grill the filets for 4-6 minutes per side. The filets should easily come off the grill, if they are sticking give them another 1-2 minutes.
  4. Serve: Remove the grilled tilapia from the grill and enjoy!

How to Know When Tilapia is Cooked

You’ll know your fish is cooked through when it’s completely opaque. However, you definitely don’t want to overcook it, or it will become dry. Additionally, you can use a meat thermometer to check and see if it has an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.

Tips for Grilling Tilapia

Here are a few things to keep in mind when grilling tilapia. They are simple tips, but will ensure your fish turns out perfect!

  • Serving Options: This dish goes great with rice, couscous and your favorite vegetable side like grilled asparagus!
  • Thaw Filets: If using frozen, be sure they are thawed before you marinate. Thaw overnight in the fridge or place packaged frozen filets in cold water for about 10 minutes.
  • Discard the Marinade: Be sure to discard the used marinade after using.
  • Cook Time: The fillets I used were a little on the thicker side, so about 5 minutes was perfect. If your fillets are thinner, reduce the time.
Close up of grilled tilapia.

How to Store Leftover Tilapia

Although grilled tilapia is best served right away, here’s how to store leftovers to enjoy them later!

  • In the Refrigerator: Once it has cooled, then place it in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. Put it in your fridge, and your fish will stay good for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: The quickest way to reheat your grilled tilapia is in the air fryer for a couple of minutes at 350 degrees. You can also reheat it over medium heat on the stove with a little melted butter in the pan.

All About Baked Salmon in Foil

Picking good-quality salmon at the grocery store can be intimidating so here is what you need to know! Here are my tips to help you out and to know the differences between salmon at the store.

  • Types of Salmon: Wild, farm, and International are all types of salmon that can be found in stores today. There are a lot of pros and cons so I would highly recommend doing your research. I would recommend avoiding internationally caught or farmed salmon at all costs. They are not regulated like the US and they often use antibiotics, and pesticides that are not allowed in the US. They also often misuse wastewater, potentially contaminating the fish.
  • Cuts of Salmon: Salmon is sold as a whole filet, a small filet, or as salmon cuts. Whole and small filets are the most common and easiest to cook and find. Salmon steaks are U-shaped with part of the spine in the middle.
  • What to Look For In Buying Salmon: When buying fresh salmon, look for glossy and firm-to-touch. Salmon meat should be bright and saturated in color. Do not buy salmon that is chalky, dry, sticky, or too soft to the touch. Avoid salmon that has cracks or breaks in the muscle or collagen sheaths. Fish should smell fresh, clean, and slightly briny like the ocean, never fishy.
  • Fresh vs Frozen: Buy fresh if you are using the fish within 2 days, otherwise stick to frozen. Salmon is often frozen immediately after being caught and preserves the nutrients and freshness.

Tips For Making Baked Parmesan Garlic Herb Salmon in Foil

So juicy and so full of flavor these tips are going to help make an amazing foil salmon! Once you pick your salmon this baked salmon in foil is easy to make and tastes amazing with my parmesan garlic herb butter.

  • Golden Crust: When the salmon is just about done, open the foil and broil for the last 2-3 minutes. This will create a perfect crust on top of the salmon!
  • When is the Salmon Done? The best way to tell if salmon is done is to look at it. The salmon flakes easily when it is finished cooking and it will also change in color from translucent to opaque. The internal temperature should be 135 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Do Not Overcook: It is easy to overcook salmon and then it becomes tough and dry. It is better to undercook it slightly and let it finish cooking as it rests than to overcook it.
  • Using Frozen: I use frozen salmon filets all the time and they work beautifully. Thaw them overnight in the fridge. You can also thaw the salmon in a bowl of cold water that you change every 10-15 minutes till it is thawed.
  • Can I leave the Skin? Yes if your salmon has the skin on, you can leave it on! It has great nutrients. Be sure to rinse your salmon and pat dry with a paper towel before placing the skin side down on the foil.

Storing Leftover Salmon

This baked salmon in foil is great for lunch the next day! The salmon warms up perfectly and the leftovers are still flakey and delicious.

  1. In the Refrigerator: Leftovers can last for up to 3-4 days when stored properly in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
  2. To Reheat: When you are ready to eat your leftovers, cooking them up in the air fryer is my favorite way! Reheat them in an air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 4-5 minutes. It keeps the texture perfectly flaky every time. Alternatively, you can reheat any leftovers in the microwave until warmed through!

Ingredient List

  • Salmon Filet: You’ll need about a pound’s worth of skinless, boneless salmon. Cut it into cubes that are all about the same size so they cook through evenly!
  • Salt and Pepper: Give the salmon its first layer of flavor. Adjust according to your tastes!
  • Soy Sauce: The base of the sauce for the honey glazed salmon bowls. It adds a savory flavor and also keeps the salmon nice and tender. Use low-sodium soy sauce if you don’t want your bowls to turn out too salty. (I used regular soy sauce, but it’s all up to preference!)
  • Honey: For some sticky-sweet goodness!
  • Minced Garlic: Because you can never have too much garlic, especially in these tasty salmon bowls! The fresh garlic helps to balance out the sweetness in the dish for a well-rounded flavor.

Rice Bowls / Assembly

  • Vegetables: I used shredded carrots and broccoli florets, both precooked to save time! I also added some sliced green onions on top of my bowl for extra flavor.
  • Cooked White Rice: To help fill you up! You can also use brown rice or a mix of rice and grains for more fiber.
  • Sesame Seeds: Optional, but I love the extra flavor and texture that sesame seeds add.

Use those leftovers from your fridge!

These honey glazed salmon bowls are perfect for adding leftover veggies to. Whether its corn, peas, or salad greens, throw them in!

Ingredients to assemble the bowls with. Listed are: broccoli, shredded carrots, sesame seeds, green onion, and rice

How to Make Honey Glazed Salmon Bowls

The salmon only takes 6 minutes to cook, but 15 minutes to marinate. So use that time to assemble your bowl and steam any veggies if necessary!

Preparing the Salmon

  1. Cut Salmon: Cut the salmon filet into one-inch cubes and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Sauce Mixture: In a medium-sized bowl add the soy sauce, honey, and garlic. Whisk together until smooth. Reserve 2 tablespoons of marinade to brush on the salmon during the cooking process.
  3. Toss: Add the salmon to the remaining marinade and toss to coat. Then marinate for 15 minutes.
  4. Air Fry: Place the marinated salmon bites in a single layer into the air fryer. You may need to cook a couple of batches depending on the size of your air fryer. Cook at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 minutes.
  5. Add More Glaze, Cook Again: Open the air fryer and brush the reserved glaze on the salmon bites. Close the basket and cook for an additional 3 minutes. The internal temperature for salmon should be 125-130 degrees Fahrenheit.

Assembling Your Bowl

  1. Add Your Favorite Toppings: Enjoy the salmon over rice with the cooked shredded carrots, broccoli, and green onion.
  2. Garnish: Garnish with sesame seeds and a drizzle of additional soy sauce if desired.

Tips and Tricks

A few ways to help you perfect these honey glazed salmon bowls and make them just the way you like!

  • Low-Carb/Keto-Friendly: This is a great option for low-carb diets! Simply swap your white rice for zucchini noodles or a bed of lettuce.
  • Add Spice: Add a drizzle of sriracha, sriracha mayo, or some red pepper flakes for heat!
  • More Veggies: Add sugar snap peas, edamame, sliced avocado, bamboo shoots, corn, spinach… the list goes on and on! Anything works here! The flavor of the salmon is super versatile.

Cooking the Salmon Bites On the Stove

If you don’t have an air fryer or just prefer to cook your salmon in a skillet instead, here’s how!

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated salmon bites to the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 125-130 degrees Fahrenheit. Since the salmon pieces are small, they should cook through relatively quickly. Be sure to keep an eye on them so they don’t burn! Enjoy!

Storing Leftover Salmon Bowls + Meal Prep

To store leftover honey glazed salmon bowls, let everything cool completely first. Then, divide the mixture into separate meal prep containers with airtight lids. This will prevent moisture buildup and loss of flavor. In the fridge, your prepped bowls will stay fresh and delicious for up to 4 days. If you’d like to enjoy them later in the week, consider freezing them. Simply store the cooled mixture in freezer-safe containers for up to 3 months.

When you’re ready to eat, thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat gently on the stove or in the microwave! You can also reheat the salmon in the air fryer for about 5 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Air Fryer Salmon Bites Recipe

These glazed honey garlic salmon bites will knock your socks off! The bite-sized salmon pieces get crispy and golden on the outside but stay flakey and moist on the inside. The marinade is a mixture of soy sauce, honey, garlic, and fresh lemon which make it similar to a teriyaki sauce.

Cooking in an air fryer is my favorite because of how convenient it is. With only 6 minutes in the air fryer, you’ll be eating in no time. I am convinced that the air fryer is the BEST way to cook salmon, and I can’t wait for you to try it. For more delicious air fryer recipes, check out my Tender and Juicy Chicken, this Perfect Air Fryer Steak, and these Homemade Air Fryer French Fries.

Ingredients Needed

This air fryer salmon bites recipe has the perfect mixture of sweet and savory. It marinates in an Asian-inspired sauce that is SO tasty! To find the exact measurements of ingredients, check out the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Skinless Salmon Filet: Atlantic, king, and sockeye salmon are the most common. Cut the salmon into 1-inch cubes.
  • Salt and Pepper: Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Soy Sauce: Low-sodium soy sauce, tamari, or coconut aminos are all great alternatives for soy sauce in this recipe.
  • Honey: Add sweetness to balance out the flavors in the marinade.
  • Garlic: Fresh minced garlic is best!
  • Lemon: The juice of one lemon for acidity in the marinade. Lime would also be delicious!

How to Make Air Fryer Salmon Bites

Making these air fryer salmon bites could not be any easier! This fail-proof recipe will be your go-to recipe for a fast weeknight meal.

  1. Cube and Season the Salmon: Cut the salmon filet into one-inch cubes and season with salt and black pepper.
  2. Mix the Marinade: In a medium-sized bowl add the soy sauce, honey, garlic, and lemon. Whisk together until smooth. Reserve 2 tablespoons of marinade to brush on the salmon during the cooking process.
  3. Marinate the Salmon Bites: Add the salmon cubes to the marinade then toss to coat them evenly. Marinate for 20 minutes.
  4. Cook in the Air Fryer: Place the marinated salmon bites in a single layer into the air fryer basket. Cook at 390 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 minutes. Open the air fryer and brush the reserved glaze on the salmon bites. Close the basket and cook for an additional 3 minutes. The internal temperature for salmon should be 125-130 degrees Fahrenheit.
  5. Serve: Enjoy the salmon over rice with a side of vegetables!

Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Salmon Bites

Don’t let the air fryer intimidate you! It is my absolute favorite way to cook salmon. Follow my tips below to make these glazed honey garlic salmon bites a success.

  • What is the Cooking Temperature for Salmon? Salmon should be cooked to an internal temperature of 125 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit. There is nothing like perfectly cooked salmon because it is flakey and moist! Cooking salmon bites in the air fryer is a very fast method. Watch it closely so you don’t overcook them.
  • Fresh or Frozen Salmon: Fresh salmon filets are best, but if you need to use frozen salmon make sure to thaw it overnight in the refrigerator. To thaw salmon quickly, you can place frozen salmon in a sealable Ziplock bag and submerge it in COLD water for 30 minutes or until thawed. However, make sure the salmon stays cold.
  • How to Serve Salmon Bites: These air fryer salmon bites are so versatile. They are super high in protein and can be served in many ways. Enjoy them on a salad, in a bowl, as tacos, or with a side of rice and veggies. You could even serve these as an appetizer! Double the recipe so you can enjoy them all week long.

Storing and Reheating Leftover Salmon

These glazed honey garlic salmon bites can last for up to 3-4 days when stored properly in an airtight container in the refrigerator. When you are ready to eat your leftovers, reheat them in the air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 4-5 minutes. It keeps the texture perfectly flaky every time!

Pistachio Crusted Salmon Recipe

Pistachio crusted salmon is tender and flaky salmon covered in the most incredible garlic lemon sauce and crunchy pistachios. The flavor and crunchy texture is out of this world, and it’s sure to become a new family favorite! Plus, it’s super easy to make.

This meal is not only incredibly delicious with its buttery flavor, but it’s also packed with healthy omega-3 fatty acids. You get wonderful taste and nutrition in one bite! To complete this dinner, serve your pistachio salmon with lemon parmesan asparagus or a fresh green goddess salad and fluffy 1-hour rolls!

Ingredients Needed

This tasty sauce that coats the salmon is made with simple ingredients, and is a wonderful combination of sweet and savory. To find all of the exact ingredients, check out the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Salmon: I like using fresh salmon best because the texture turns out more soft and tender. You’ll need 4 filets, about 6 ounces each, for this recipe.
  • Salt & Pepper: To season the salmon with.
  • Garlic: The minced garlic adds delicious savory flavor.
  • Dijon Mustard: Gives the sauce a sharp, slightly spicy taste.
  • Honey: Balances the other savory and sharp flavors of the sauce with a hint of sweetness.
  • Lemon Juice: Fresh is always best!
  • Pistachios: Adds the perfect crunch and texture to complement the tender, flaky salmon. They also add a delicious nutty flavor.

How to Make Pistachio Crusted Salmon

Not only does this salmon recipe taste amazing, but it’s so quick and easy to make. You can be eating it in just about 30 minutes!

  1. Prep: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and then line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prep the Filets: Rinse the filets, then pat them dry and season each one with salt and pepper. Then place the filets on the parchment lined baking sheet.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl whisk together the garlic, Dijon mustard, honey, and lemon juice. Once the liquids are well combined, add the pistachios and mix well.
  4. Bake: Spread the pistachio mixture onto each salmon filet, and then pat it on firmly. Bake the filets for 18-20 minutes on the middle rack. Salmon should be flakey and temp out to 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  5. Rest: Remove the salmon from the oven and allow it to rest at room temperature for a few minutes before serving.
  6. Serve: Enjoy the salmon with some lemon wedges!

Tips for Cooking Pistachio Salmon

Salmon is easy and straightforward to cook! It’s tender, juicy and filled with healthy fats and nutrients. Here are a few tips, so your salmon cooks up perfect every time you make it.

  • Air Fryer: Feel free to cook pistachio crusted salmon in an air fryer rather than baking it. Air fry it at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-13 minutes.
  • Don’t Overcook: Be careful not to overcook the salmon, or you’ll end up with a dry, unpleasant tasting fish. Cook it just until it’s slightly pink and flaky to keep it moist and delicious.
  • Let it Rest: Once the pistachio crusted salmon is cooked to perfection, allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps the juices redistribute, ensuring a juicy and flavorful bite every time.

Storing Leftovers

Pistachio crusted salmon is super tasty leftover! The only tricky part is reheating the salmon without drying it out and overcooking it. Sometimes I will just eat it cold over a salad to keep it nice and tender, and it’s great that way!

  • In the Refrigerator: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • To Reheat: Wrap each filet in aluminum foil to help seal in the liquids. Reheat in the oven for 10 minutes or until warmed through at 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

One of the best things about serving salmon as your main course is that it goes with so many different side dishes! Here are a few ideas on what you can pair with pistachio crusted salmon.

Salmon Croquette Recipe

Salmon lovers, this recipe is for you! If you don’t know what salmon croquettes are, you are in for a treat. This recipe uses canned salmon along with a host of delicious seasonings and ingredients that flavor the salmon to perfection. Once formed into patties, they are pan-fried in a skillet until golden brown.

Not only are these insanely delicious, but they make a great side to any meal or a quick, on-the-go meal if you are short on time. Don’t forget to dip them in some delicious Tartar Sauce! It really elevates these delicious croquettes, and the combined flavor is so delicious that you won’t be able to stop at one!

Ingredients in Salmon Croquettes

These ingredients are simple, and I bet that you can already find most of them in your pantry! This recipe uses classic ingredients to really grab hold of the delicious flavor of salmon and make it taste its best. Go ahead and check out the recipe card at the bottom of the post for all of the exact measurements.

  • Panko Bread Crumbs: The breadcrumbs help to form the perfect crust.
  • Flour: I used all-purpose flour in this recipe.
  • Bell Peppers: These are optional, but I love the added color, crunch, and flavor they bring to the croquettes.
  • Canned Salmon: Using canned salmon saves so much time!
  • Garlic Powder: This is so delicious with the salmon.
  • Salt and Pepper: These enhance all of the flavors in the recipe.
  • Egg: The egg binds all of the ingredients together making it easy to form patties.
  • Mayonnaise: This also helps bind the ingredients together and adds a creaminess to the base.
  • Worcestershire Sauce: This added flavor is out of this world!
  • Fresh Cilantro: If you aren’t a fan of cilantro (it seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it ingredient), then you can leave it out!
  • Vegetable Oil: I use the oil to cook the croquettes in the skillet. It helps them get that golden brown color.

How do You Make Salmon Croquettes?

  1. Combine Ingredients: Add panko and flour to a bowl and mix. Add bell peppers, canned salmon, garlic, salt, pepper, egg, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce and cilantro. Mix until incorporated.
  2. Form Patties: Shape into 6-8 patties and heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook: Add patties to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Can I Bake Salmon Croquettes?

Yes! Place the croquettes on a baking sheet and cook them for 20 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, flipping once halfway through. They are done when they are golden brown and an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a few frequently asked questions about this salmon croquettes recipe!

  • Can I use fresh salmon instead of canned salmon in this recipe? Yes, you can substitute fresh salmon for canned salmon if you prefer. Just make sure that you cook and flake the fresh salmon before adding it to the mixture.
  • Can I use a different type of breadcrumb instead of Panko? Yes, you can use regular breadcrumbs or crushed crackers as a substitute for Panko if you don’t have it on hand!
  • How do I know when the croquettes are cooked through? The croquettes are done when they are golden brown on both sides and have reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. I always like to use a meat thermometer to double-check the temperature.

A Reader’s Review

“This is the best salmon recipe I’ve found to date! I am a relatively novice cook and this salmon is so easy but SO GOOD that I make it about once a week!”

Garlic Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon

This may not be well known, but I used to hate salmon! But I have been converted, and now I can’t get enough. Salmon has turned into one of my all-time favorite foods, and not only is it delicious, but it’s good for you too! Win-win. There are quite a few salmon recipes that you have to try.

This garlic brown sugar salmon recipe soared to the number one spot of my favorite salmon recipes because it turns out perfectly every time. The sweet glazed made from brown sugar, garlic, soy sauce, lemon juice, and some salt and pepper is so delicious and perfectly complements the fish. The salmon flakes off with your fork, making every bite melt in your mouth. Even my kids love this recipe!

Ingredients in Garlic Glazed Salmon

This delicious garlic brown sugar glazed salmon has the perfect mixture of sweet and savory. I mean, how can you go wrong with brown butter and garlic?? To find all of the exact ingredients, check out the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

  • Atlantic Salmon: I used Atlantic salmon in this recipe, but you can use another kind if you prefer.
  • Olive Oil: This is what the salmon will cook up in, making it nice and flaky.
  • Brown Sugar: This creates a caramelized glaze and adds a sweetness to the flavor.
  • Soy Sauce: The soy sauce adds a tangy taste.
  • Garlic Cloves: The minced garlic adds a flavor and smell that makes this salmon irresistible!
  • Lemon: I use the juice of one lemon. Fresh is always best!
  • Salt and Pepper: The seasonings enhance all of the flavors in the recipe.
  • Lemon Slices and Chopped Parsley: I use these as a garnish to the salmon.

How to Make Garlic Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon

Not only does this salmon taste heavenly, but it’s so easy to make. You can be eating it in less than 30 minutes!

  1. Prep: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Lay the salmon on top and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Fold up the sides of the aluminum foil around the salmon.
  2. Make Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Pour the glaze over the salmon. Top the salmon with aluminum foil and seal.
  3. Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until salmon is cooked throughout. Take the foil off of the top and baste the salmon with the sauce in the foil. Broil for 3-5 minutes or until brown and caramelized. Garnish with lemon slices and chopped parsley if desired.

How to Tell When Salmon is Fully Cooked?

You can tell when your garlic brown sugar glazed salmon is fully cooked when the fat intensifies and runs out. Cook the salmon further only to get the desired degree of doneness. When flakes separate easily, but the meat is translucent, it’s rare but edible.

Storing Leftovers

This Garlic Brown Sugar Glazed Salmon can last for up to 3-4 days when stored properly in an airtight container in the refrigerator. When you are ready to eat your leftovers, cooking them up in the air fryer is my favorite way! Reheat them in an air fryer at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 4-5 minutes. It keeps the texture perfectly flaky every time.

Salmon so good, it will have everyone falling in love! Marry Me Salmon is soft and flaky, smothered in a buttery, creamy sun-dried tomato sauce. Trust me, it’s one of the best dishes you’ll ever make!

This marry me salmon is so delicious. The creamy, flavorful sauce will have everyone hooked! You’ll also have to try this reader-favorite marry me chicken!

Top-down view of marry me salmon in a white and blue skillet.

Creamy Sun-Dried Tomato Salmon

It’s pretty clear that I love Tuscan recipes, I have quite a few on the blog now! (I’m just going to leave this Tuscan sausage pasta here for you to try if you haven’t already!) These dishes are creamy, buttery, and loaded with mouthwatering sun-dried tomato flavor. Marry me salmon is no different, and I know you’ll love it as much as my family does.

The salmon filets get cooked to seared, juicy perfection. They’re great on their own, but even better with this Tuscan sauce! It’s savory, buttery, with just a bit of sweetness from the dried tomatoes. Each bite is pure indulgence! Serve this salmon on a bed of your favorite pasta for a meal the whole family will be asking for all the time.

Ingredients in Marry Me Salmon

Each of these ingredients plays a part in making marry me salmon so irresistible! You can find all of the ingredients I used in the recipe card below.

For the Salmon

  • Salmon Filets: I used skinless salmon. Be sure you use cuts that are roughly the same size so they cook at the same rate.
  • Olive Oil: For cooking the salmon in and also helping the seasonings stick.
  • Dried Italian Seasoning: No Tuscan recipe is complete without this tasty blend of herbs!
  • Salt and Pepper: to give the salmon an extra layer of flavor.

For the Sauce

  • Butter: To give the marry me salmon sauce a tasty richness!
  • Minced Garlic: For the perfect savory flavor. Fresh minced garlic is best! If you prefer a milder garlic flavor, garlic powder can also be used.
  • Flour: Thickens up the sauce a little.
  • Chicken Broth: Acts as the flavorful base of the sauce. You can also use mushroom or vegetable broth, but it will change the flavor slightly.
  • Heavy Cream: This is what makes the sauce so good! You can also use half and half if you want the sauce to be a little lighter.
  • Grated Parmesan: For the best nutty, cheesy flavor.
  • Sun-Dried Tomatoes: Give the dish that classic Tuscan flavor. Make sure they’re drained so they don’t add too much liquid to the sauce.
  • Dried Italian Seasoning: More herbs to give the sauce flavor!
  • Lemon Zest: Adds bright flavor that cuts through the richness of the sauce.
  • Fresh Basil: This is optional, but if you want to add a little extra flavor to your dish, garnish with fresh chopped basil! It also gives the marry me salmon a perfect presentation.

How to Make Creamy Tuscan Salmon

This is a restaurant-quality dish that’s ready in 30 minutes. What could be better than that? Anything that tastes this good but is so easy to make is a winner in my book.

  1. Add Seasonings and Olive Oil: Brush olive oil on top of each of the salmon fillets using a basting brush. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat Skillet: Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook: Add the salmon filets to the skillet and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3 minutes on each side. Lower the heat and then allow the salmon to cook through to the center. Remove the filets from the skillet and set them aside.

Sauce

  1. Melt Butter, Sauté Garlic: Return to the same skillet, and add the butter. Melt the butter over medium-high heat then sauté the garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add in the flour and stir to make a paste.
  2. Add Broth, Cream, and Cheese: Whisk in the chicken broth, heavy cream, and parmesan cheese.
  3. Stir in Remaining Ingredients: Stir in the drained sun-dried tomatoes, Italian seasoning, and lemon zest. Season with more salt and pepper if needed.
  4. Thicken: Simmer the sauce for a few minutes for it to thicken.
  5. Add Salmon: Return the salmon filets back to the skillet and then layer on top of the sauce.
  6. Simmer: Turn the heat to medium-low, then continue to simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Garnish: Garnish with freshly chopped basil leaves and additional lemon zest if desired.
  8. Serve: Serve marry me salmon warm over pasta or rice.

Tips and Variations

Get creative and adapt this marry me salmon to your own personal tastes! Here are a few tips to make sure it turns out perfectly.

  • Perfect Searing: For that golden crust on your salmon filets, make sure the skillet is well heated before adding the fish. This will give you that satisfying crispy exterior.
  • Cheese Choices: While parmesan is classic, you can try other hard cheeses like pecorino romano or asiago for a unique twist on the sauce’s cheesy flavor.
  • Add Veggies: If you’re a veggie lover, consider adding sautéed baby spinach, artichoke hearts, or even diced bell peppers to the sauce. This can add extra color, flavor, and nutrients to the dish.

Firecracker Salmon Recipe

Firecracker salmon is an absolute winner, and it’s easy to see why. First off, let’s talk about the star of the show: the juicy salmon itself. This fish is not only crazy delicious with its buttery flavor, but it’s also loaded with those good-for-you omega-3 fatty acids. It’s like hitting the jackpot for taste and health in one bite! And when you slather it with that firecracker sauce, oh boy, it takes it to a whole new level of yum.

Speaking of that sauce, it’s the real game-changer here. It’s a mashup of buffalo sauce (or Frank’s hot sauce), brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. The result? A mind-blowing combo of tangy, sweet, and spicy flavors that’ll make your mouth water. It’s seriously so good, I can’t say enough good things about it!

Tips and Variations

Here are a few tips to help you nail that firecracker salmon! You’re going to love it, it’s so irresistible.

  • Don’t Overcook: Be careful not to overcook the salmon, or you’ll end up with a dry and sad fish. Cook it just until it’s slightly pink and flaky to keep it moist and delicious.
  • Marinate: For an extra burst of flavor, marinate the salmon in the firecracker sauce for at least 30 minutes before you cook it. This allows the flavors to infuse, resulting in a more flavorful and delicious outcome.
  • Add More Sauce: While grilling, brush the salmon with the firecracker sauce regularly. This basting technique adds layers of flavor and keeps the fish moist throughout the cooking process.
  • Let it Rest: Once your firecracker salmon is cooked to perfection, allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving. This helps the juices redistribute, ensuring a juicy and flavorful bite every time.
